Matt Ryan and the Atlanta Falcons failed to finish off the Seattle Seahawks in Week 6, but the league’s leader in passing yards remains confident in his offense’s ability to move the football—regardless of opponent.
“Obviously, we didn’t get the job done,” Ryan said, via ESPN. “But at the same time, we also know when we’re playing the way we’re capable of, we can go down the field on anybody. And that’s kind of the mindset that we have to have.”
Ryan has reason to be confident.
In back-to-back games against the Seahawks and Denver Broncos, the Falcons offense scored 47 points and gained 734 total yards. Ryan threw for 602 yards and four touchdowns in the two games.
After six weeks, the Falcons rank first in points (33.2 per game) and total yards (441.5). Ryan leads the NFL in passing yards (2,075), passer rating (117.9) and yards per attempt (9.9), and ranks second in passing touchdowns (15).
At his current pace, Ryan would throw for well over 5,000 yards, with 40 touchdowns and only eight interceptions.
More importantly, the 4-2 Falcons have proved they can play with—and score against—any team in the NFL. Atlanta’s next test comes against the San Diego Chargers on Sunday.
