Max Scherzer did something in his first start that he did not do in his entire Cy Young season. Think he’s pitching for those extra two years on his future contract?
Max Scherzer never threw 8 scoreless innings in his Cy Young season. Nice 1st start to '14 (after a rocky 1st inning) (H/T @aarongleeman)

Scherzer’s rocky start began long before the first pitch. Scherzer was visibly (thanks to FSD) frustrated in his pre-game bullpen, suggesting with his body language that he couldn’t find his release point on his breaking stuff. As astute viewers pointed out during the game, though, Scherzer ditched the long sleeves and pretty much mowed from that point on.
