Incoming UCONN freshman Maya Moore’s double-double, 19 points and 13 rebounds, helped lead the USA U-19 Women’s Basketball Team to the FIBA U-19 World Championship over Sweden 99-57 in Slovakia on Sunday night. The U-19 went a perfect 9-0 on their way to the championship.
Moore was strong throughout the whole tournament scoring in double figures in every game. For the tournament, she averaged 16.3 points and 6.4 rebounds.
She is third UCONN women’s player to win a gold medal this summer, joining her future teammates Mel Thomas and Charde Houston, who both won gold in the Pan Am games.
