McDyess to retire after this season?

San Antonio Spurs’ forward/center Antonio McDyess said this might be his last season in the NBA despite having a contract with the Spurs which runs through the 2011-2012 NBA season according to AOL Fanhouse:

Antonio McDyess reiterated the other day he plays to retire after this season.

McDyess will be entering his 16th NBA season and last season Spurs’ coach Gregg Popovich had this to say about McDyess:

“He’s a pro,” Popovich said. “He’s somebody that does his work and he goes home. He likes to work hard and he does it the right way. He’s a classy guy. He’s been a good teammate, and on the court he makes shots and he’s a tough defender and rebounder. So he’s been wonderful for us.”

His contract is 2.64 guaranteed, fully guaranteed if not waved before July 1 2011.

If an NBA lockout does occur then more than likely McDyess will retire.
