Although the news was about a week late, last night I had a post about former UConn Huskies women’s basketball player Meghan Gardler heading over to Sweden to play professional basketball. So I decided to ask Gardler through Twitter who she would be playing for over there.
At the time, she couldn’t answer the question but said to wait for a press release that would announce where she was playing.
Well now we know that Gardler will be playing for the YMCA Umea Comets in Umea, Sweden according to Västerbotten Folkblad. According to the article, Gardler has signed a two month contract.
The YMCA Umea Comets play in the Swedish Women’s Basketball League otherwise known as the Damligan. The Comets are currently in last place as they haven’t won a game this season (0-13). So Gardler definitely will have her work cut for her.
