Yes-they really do. My pal and devoted Tony Allen fan HRVoje has been posting and creating T.A. vids for a few years now. Tony's offseason move to the Grizz wasn't exactly a huge hit with him, but he has continued to root for and follow the man known as "Gucci".
His latest upload to YouTube is this clip from Memphis' FOX affiliate on the impact Tony's had on the team and it's fans. I personally think this is fantastic. Tony wasn't always the most popular guy when he was with the Celts. He had some forgettable moments and was a scapegoat for many a soured fan. But you can't deny the hustle, energy and grit this kid brought when he played in Beantown.
He's brought that grit and his championship experience to a young Grizzlies team and they have really got behind him. In a bizarre twist, it seems the turning-point, and the moment when his peers really started to respect him, was after he blasted teammate OJ Mayo in the face back in January.
Allen and his Grizz have secured the first-ever winning season for Memphis with their gutsy play, and are currently 3 games up on Houston for the 8th seed in the Western Conference. Tony Allen: team leader. Who'd have thunk it?
