Men’s hockey: Badgers edged by Buckeyes

An early deficit proved to be too much to overcome as the No. 8 Wisconsin men’s hockey team fell to host Ohio State 2-1 on Friday night.

The first period was all Buckeyes. Tyler Lundey scored just over two minutes into the game to draw first blood for OSU.

Darik Angeli scored at 14:25 of the first to make it 2-0 Ohio State heading into the first intermission. It proved to be all the offense the Buckeyes would need.

Michael Mersch scored early in the third to cut UW’s deficit to one, but that’s as close as the Badgers would get.

Wisconsin continued its struggles on the road, falling to 1-7-1 away from the Kohl Center this season.

Joel Rumpel made 28 saves for UW.

The final game of the series is tonight at 7 p.m. on NBC Sports Network.
