Men’s hockey: Badgers Sweep Michigan

The No. 14 Wisconsin men's hockey team scored a goal in very period en route to a 3-1 win over No. 8 Michigan Saturday night at the Kohl Center.

Frankie Simonelli drew first blood for the Badgers with a goal at 14:05 of the first period.

Luke Moffatt helped the Wolverines even the score in the waning moments of the opening stanza, making it one apiece heading into the first intermission.

Wisconsin got back on track thanks to a goal by Chase Drake roughly half way through the second.

Joseph LaBate sealed the deal for the Badgers when he lit the lamp with just under two minutes remaining in the game.

Goaltender Joel Rumpel turned aside all but one of the 29 of the shots he faced to pick up his 10th win of the season.

With the win, Wisconsin improves to 13-6-1-1 on the year and 4-2-0-0 on the Big Ten.
