And so the big man acquiesced, agreeing, that yes, the Cardinals perhaps needed a day off. Mother Nature had made her case. She tends to be right more often than not.
Maybe she’s a big Birds fan. Maybe she’s just benevolent. But after Monday’s grinding win that included a scary injury to Stephen Piscotty, a day off before trying to clinch the NL Central wasn’t protested much by anyone wearing red.

The surprise off day has done wonders for the mental state of Cardinal Nation. Watching the Dodgers clinch a trip to the World Series was tough, but something tells me that the Cardinals aren’t going to take that sitting down.
