TheNYRBlog reader Brian D. sends me this pic of his prized possession, a Mark Messier signed copy of the June 15, 1994, Daily News.
What’s interesting about the signature is that Brian and his father had a chance meeting with Messier’s brother Paul at a game and asked him if Mark could sign the Daily News cover for them, which he agreed to. So at the next game Brian and his father attended, they again met with Paul, gave him the paper and scheduled another meet-up at a future game. And sure enough, at the next game, Paul had the front and back covers signed by “The Captain” himself…
