Wow. Didn’t see that one coming. Can you sense my sarcasm?
Michael Carter-Williams has been named the Rookie of the Year, first reported by NJ.com.
Carter-Williams averaged 16.7 points, 6.3 assists, 6.2 rebounds, and 1.9 steals per game for the Philadelphia 76ers in his rookie season. He was one of the very few bright spots for the 76ers this season. There was no doubt in my, or any educated NBA fan’s mind that Carter-Williams would win this prestigious award.
Carter-Williams is the first Rookie of the Year to be picked outside the top-10 since Mark Jackson in 1988.
The 76ers now have the Rookie of the Year in Michael-Carter Williams, young and potentially elite rim protector in Nerlens Noel, probably two top ten picks in the stacked 2014 NBA Draft, and more than $30 million in cap space. They’re in a tremendous situation for a team that just went 19-63.
