Michael Carter-Williams is not worried about being traded by Sixers

Let the NBA off-season begin… well for the Philadelphia 76ers it has already begun as they hold the third overall pick in the 2014 NBA Draft.

With the Sixers holding the third overall pick in this year’s draft there are tons of rumors flying around. Are they trying to select Andrew Wiggins? Or are they trying to select Dante Exum and then trade reigning Rookie of the Year award winner Michael Carter-Williams? Well let me put all of those rumors to rest because it is not happening.

For the Sixers to trade their franchise point guard it would be pretty asinine. That would be telling your fan base, “Hey we are starting over again.” Don’t be worried Sixers fans because Michael Carter-Williams isn’t worried about being traded.

Carter-Williams was on WIP’s morning show on Wednesday and said:

I didn’t even pay any attention to it. I have a great relationship with the coaches and the GM here, you know, I’m pretty confident that I’m not going anywhere for a little while. So, yeah, I heard it and I didn’t really pay any attention to it.

So there you go Carter-Williams isn’t worried so neither should you. This past season, Carter-Williams was a stud with a stat line of 16.7 points, 6.3 assists, and 6.2 rebounds per game. I only expect those numbers to get better going forward as he matures and gets better pieces around him.

Finally, we might not see Michael Carter-Williams playing with those pieces in the Summer League as he underwent shoulder surgery. According to Tom Moore of Calkins Media, Carter-Williams might not play in the Orlando or Las Vegas Summer Leagues.

If I’m MCW or the Sixers do not rush back because he has training camp, preseason and regular season to work with his new teammates as this roster will most likely be different next season.
