The big question this off-season is where will Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Michael Vick land? Will he be staying with the Philadelphia Eagles or could it be somewhere. Well there is one team that we can eliminate from that list and that is the New York Jets.
Many people thought that this could be a fit because Rex Ryan has a thing for Vick and his skill set and then last week the Jets hired former Eagles offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg. But Vick and Marty did not have the best of relationship last season. So, the question is where will Michael Vick be playing football at in 2013? There are many answers to this question. We already looked at the New York Jets and that is not happening instead the Jets might go with Buffalo Bills backup quarterback Tarvaris Jackson, who fits the Jets price range very well.
Here are some other possible teams that Vick could go to. Michael Vick could be reunited with Andy Reid in Kansas City, now that is not farfetched to say. Reid is in a new place and possibly looking for a new quarterback with the Chiefs current situation. Sorry Brady Quinn and Matt Cassel are not appealing names to lead your franchise and I’m not sold on West Virginia quarterback Geno Smith yet.
Another team that he could go to is the Arizona Cardinals. The Cardinals have their own quarterback problems as well. They had four different people play quarterback this past season. They had Kevin Kolb, John Skelton, Ryan Lindley, and Brian Hoyer all taking snaps behind that putrid Cardinals offensive line. New head coach Bruce Arians will be looking for his guy at quarterback, he could draft one but this year’s quarterback class isn’t strong to say the least.
Vick could be his guy; the last two quarterbacks that Arians coached were Ben Roethlisberger and Andrew Luck. What do both of these quarterbacks have in common? Both of them are mobile and Vick is too. But Arians will need to sure up the offensive line or Vick will have a short season once again.
The last team, I’m going to throw out there is the Jacksonville Jaguars. This is far out of left field because the Jags are starting over with a new regime and have a new head coach in place with Gus Bradley. Bradley was in contention for the Philadelphia Eagles head coaching job as well. Vick could go to Jacksonville because that franchise needs a spark plug and he can do that.
Also this past season, Bradley was the defensive coordinator of the Seattle Seahawks and they had their own mobile quarterback in rookie Russell Wilson. So there could be a possible fit in how Bradley wants to run the offense in Jacksonville.
Jaguars’ management has already said that they will not be bringing in Tim Tebow so that leaves the door open for Vick. Another thing is Blaine Gabbert has not been good either in Jacksonville and Chad Henne had his chances to start in Miami. So maybe we will see Vick in the lineup and throw on a Jaguars helmet which would be a shock too many.
Finally, there is always the possibility that he could come back to Philadelphia but is he willing to take a pay cut to stay? The answer is no. Mike Vick and Nick Foles both met with new Eagles head coach Chip Kelly last Friday but we do not know what came out of those meetings. If Vick stays, does he flourish Chip Kelly’s offense? That is a wait and see and we will all be watching to see where Michael Vick lands at this offseason.
