OK, so it wasn’t the biggest home game ever, but last night’s College Gameday-warranted affair was easily the biggest basketball game on Michigan’s campus since guys named Howard and Rose were on campus. [note: last sentence removed by the NCAA]
Michigan led the whole way, keeping Ohio State at a comfortable 5-8 point range for most of the game. OSU cut Michigan’s lead to three down the stretch, but wasn’t able to stop Trey Burke off the dribble when it mattered most.
With the win, Michigan and Ohio State sit at 10-4 in the Big Ten, half a game behind MSU (at 10-3). The Sparties are currently down by 3 at halftime against Purdue, so we could very well have a 3-way tie at the end of the day. If the three teams are still tied at the end of the season, a screaming match between Jared Sullinger, Tom Izzo, and Tim Hardaway Jr. will decide the title.
