“Mighty Mo” headlines Paulie Ayala’s August 22nd show Benefiting Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Fort Worth

Forth, Worth, Texas August 18, 2014 – Light Welterweight “Mighty Mo” Maurice Hooker (14-0-2, 10KO) out of Maple Ave Boxing Gym in Dallas will face Carlos Valenzuela (6-0, 3KO) from Sonora, Mexico in a 6 round affair as the headliner for the Scott G Sherman Boxing at the Ballroom on Friday, August 22nd at the Renaissance Worthington Hotel in downtown Fort Worth, Texas.  This annual event is promoted by Paulie Ayala Productions, led by 2x World Champion Paulie Ayala, and is aptly named after Ayala’s late manager Scott Sherman.  The proceeds will benefit the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Fort Worth.

Hooker is tall and slender with a wicked right hand ala “Hitman” Hearns and is ready to showcase his power against the undefeated Valenzuela.   Hooker is a fast starter with 8 of his 10 knockouts in the first two rounds.  This will be Valenzuela’s first fight in the U.S. as all previous ones have been in Mexico.

The co-main features a six rounder with crowd pleasing Samuel “The Main Event” Clarkson who is looking to rebound off of his loss in Vegas this past April to undefeated Jesse Hart on ESPN for the NABF Junior Super Middleweight title.  Clarkson will face journeyman William Johnson (10-37-2, 3KO). Out of the ring for 4 months, look for Clarkson to be rejuvenated and come out swinging while back in his home state of Texas.  Clarkson’s sister, Jasmine, will be making her pro debut on the card against Raquel Vidal (1-2-1).

Also on the undercard, exciting welterweight Jonathan Steele (4-0, 3KO) faces Jonathan O’Neal (1-1), Jay Williams (3-1, 2KO) battles Clarence Joseph (3-1, 1KO) at super middleweight, tough lightweight DeAnthony Bonner (7-1, 2KO) squares off against Clifton Thames (3-1-1) and Ernesto Delgadillo (1-0-1) meets Jermichael Neal (1-3-1,1KO) at 118lbs  as both look for their 2nd win.  In a heavyweight bout, Ruann Visser (1-0, 1KO) matches up against Eric Lindsey (3-13, 1KO).  All are scheduled for 4 rounds plus there will one special attraction MMA fight as Peter Grimes (12-8) will scrap with Travonne Hobbs (2-2) at 145lbs.

Weigh-ins will take place at the Worthington Renaissance Hotel in Fort Worth this Thursday at 3:00.

All tickets inside the ballroom are sold out, however $10 tickets will be available at the weigh-ins and fight night to watch a live feed streaming on a large screen on the outdoor terrace at the hotel.  It will include pizza and a cash bar will be available.  First fight will start at 8:00 Friday night.
