Miguel Cabrera will not play in the Tigers’ last 6 games after suffering a high ankle sprain on Monday night. Cabrera has continued to put up MVP numbers despite the team’s slide in the standings over the summer months. He will end the season with a .328 average, 38 home runs, and 126 RBI. While I’m not sure he will win the MVP because of the Tigers’ record, I’d be scared to see where the team would be without Miguel’s bat in the middle of the order.
While his injury shouldn’t be a huge concern to Tigers fans, it’s a bit disappointing that I won’t see Cabrera in the lineup when the Tigs visit Baltimore this weekend. There are only a handful of players in baseball that have the same impact as a Miguel Cabrera, and it’s definitely not the same watching a game without #24 in the cleanup spot.
