Today, the Philadelphia Phillies made more roster moves as this time they put RHP Mike Adams back on the 15 day DL and in his place called up pitcher J.C. Ramirez from the Lehigh Valley IronPigs. If you don’t remember, Ramirez was apart of the Cliff Lee trade in 2009, that sent Lee to the Seattle Mariners. In return, the Phillies got J.C. Ramirez, Tyson Gillies, and Phillippe Aumont. Out of those three players, Gillies is the only one not to be apart of the big league club.
Next, to make room on the 40 man roster, the Phillies designated infielder Michael Martinez for assignment. As I mentioned earlier, Mike Adams is back on the disabled list and this is his second time this season being placed on the DL. The first time he was on the DL was between May 11th-26th for a right back strain and this time it is for bicep tendonitis. This is not good for the Phillies as Adams was suppose to be the Phillies’ setup man for Jonathan Papelbon.
The Phillies bullpen gets younger and now its time to see what J.C. Ramirez has to be a legitimate major league baseball player. This season, so far in the Lehigh Valley, he has 6.53 ERA in 23 games. Those are not good numbers but hopefully, his pitching turns around in the majors.
