The Blue Jackets dropped some more training camp news as they announced that former Shark, Mike Brown would be attending camp on a PTO. Brown, who is more known for his fists than his on-ice play has a few in the hockey community unsure of the Jackets plan going into camp.
The pugilist has been known to bounce from team to team, never quite making a mark. He only sticks with a team for a couple of seasons at most. The problem with people’s trepidation is the fact that with the World Cup of Hockey comes the need of filling out a roster for training camp.
The Jackets recently let go of Jared Boll due to ineffective play and high pay. What makes you think that the team wants to potentially sign a player that has a similar skill set? They’ve already decided they don’t want that type of player on the team but need a warm body to occupy a spot.
Very few players each year transition from PTO to signed player, the only times in which that happens are when teams are missing depth throughout their organization. That doesn’t really fit the Blue Jackets current organizational status, does it?
