Rarely in baseball can you see two players basically win the game for their team. It's simply not typical of sport that allows its teams to carry 25 players on their active rosters.
However, this Angels season has been anything but typical, and they won a game in untypical fashion Wednesday night. CJ Wilson was actually sharp, giving up only two hits in seven innings; the first time in his career.
The offense once again took the night off, save for Trout, who doubled and later scored on a wild pitch in the sixth inning. That would the Angels' only run.
Trout made a game-saving catch to bail CJ Wilson out of a jam in the seventh. Mariners rookie Mike Zunino launched a deep drive into left that looked like it had a shot at getting out and burying the Halos in a 3-1 deficit. But Trout, ranging back, made a leaping catch, slamming into the bullpen wall, and preserving the tenuous 1-run lead
Not just another Halo victory, this time.
