Minnesota Timberwolves select Kris Dunn

ANZAC2

Minnesota was unable to pull out a draft-day deal, and selected PG Kris Dunn. How does Dunn fit with the rising Wolves?

The Player: Kris Dunn is a prototype of the modern NBA point guard, with an enormous wingspan and phenomenal court vision. On defense he can lock down multiple positions, and his quick hands result in a high number of steals. The problem would be with his future development, as at 22 Dunn is one of the older players in the draft. But he could step in right now and start for a team, or serve as a high-level backup.

The Fit: Minnesota has a starting point guard already, and Ricky Rubio’s strengths are similar to Dunn’s – passing and defense. But the team has been willing to trade Rubio, showing they are open to a player such as Dunn taking over as the starter at some point. Dunn has the length to play alongside Rubio as well, and if he can improve his jumper then he will be a perfect fit in a rotation with Rubio and Zach LaVine with Andrew Wiggins the full-time small forward.
