The Washington Redskins certainly had their chances Sunday afternoon. Leading 17-3 after a dominating first half that included two turnovers forced by the defense, the Redskins never got going in the second.
The Redskins ran a mere 6 offensive plays in the 3rd quarter as the Giants scored 21 unanswered points on them, en route to a 24-17 victory in Landover.
Despite being picked off twice (Sean Taylor and London Fletcher), two plays which seemed to be isolated from the momemtum of the game, Eli Manning carved up the Redskins secondary to the tune of 236 yards and a touchdown. Derrick Ward added 120 total yards for the Giants.
Jason Campbell struggled, which was amplified by a very pedestrian performance from his running game. The Redskins made a surge to tie the game late, getting down to the Giants 1 yard line with a minute remaining and no timeouts. Some questionable clock management led to an offense that looked like it was rushing itself, and was ultimately denied when Ladell Betts was tripped up on the 3 yard line by former Redskin Antonio Pierce.
The Redskins have the week off next week, and will look to rebound against a Lions team that Donovan McNabb torched for 380 yards the week after.
