MLB Network Brings Home Four Sports Emmys and Claims Bob Costas As A Win

The inaugural year of MLB Network is capped off with four Emmys, most of which were technical wins, but thanks to Bob Costas being nominated as a studio host for both NBC Sports (for Football Night in America) and MLB Network, it gets to claim four trophies from the 31st Annual Sports Emmy Awards which were handed out in New York on Monday.

MLB Network’s Bob Costas wins 20^th Sports Emmy Award for Outstanding Sports Personality – Studio Host

Secaucus, NJ, April 27, 2010 – The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences announced last night that MLB Network won four Sports Emmy Awards in its inaugural year. MLB Tonight, MLB Network’s signature nightly studio show, received three awards, including Outstanding Production Design and Art Direction, Outstanding Graphic Design, and Outstanding Technical Team Studio. Bob Costas, host of MLB Network’s Studio 42 with Bob Costas, received his 20^th Sports Emmy Award for Outstanding Sports Personality- Studio Host for his work on both MLB Network and NBC Sports. MLB Network tied NBC and CBS for the second-highest number of awards received by an individual network.

Upon accepting his award, Costas said “There has never been a start-up that has come out of the blocks like MLB Network.”
