Breaking news: Major League Baseball has suspended Oakland Athletics pitcher Bartolo Colon for 50 games today after testing positive for testosterone. This suspension will be for the last 40 games of the regular season and 10 games in the postseason if the A’s make it that far. If they A’s don’t make it far then, Colon’s final 10 games of his suspension will count towards the team he signs with next season.
Colon said in a statement released by the players’ association today “I apologize to the fans, to my teammates and to the Oakland A’s.” Colon was having a strong season for the A’s as they are contending for a wild card position in the American League. He had a 10-9 record, with a 3.43 ERA and 91 strikeouts.
