I was a bit preoccupied this weekend (more like hella busy), but I took some time to put together links for a Weekend Bloguin Links post. Yeah, you saw how that turned out. Still, I liked what I picked despite my then-current state of mind, so check out some of the best stuff the Bloguin network has to offer. If you’re interested in what’s happening this week, Caylor did a bang-up job of previewing the next few days for you.
- Wrigleyville 23 has sparked some great conversation about the current state of how professional sports teams police their fans at sporting events. The focus is mainly on baseball and gives Philly fans a bad rap, though some of it is deserved. Still, the piece is definitely worth a read.
- The Daily Something goes the opposite way on an age-old question: instead of debating who is the best player of all-time, who’s the worst player of all-time? If you’re under the age of 30, you probably won’t know who any of these guys are (I don’t), but it’s still an interesting idea.
- Over at Favre Dollar Footlongs, Gene argues that with the names on the docket for this year’s free agency period, these NBA playoffs are the most important ever. He makes a pretty compelling case, but we’ll see how it all shakes out in the next few months.
- This one’s a bit dated (in internet years), but still worth a look. Subway Domer, Bloguin’s only 100% Notre Dame site, concedes that Notre Dame wouldn’t dominate the Big Ten if it joined the conference. With expansion looking like more and more of a possibility, the thought gains even more relevance than ever before.
- Will Yoder of The Nats Blog offers up a tribute to Dr. Frank Jobe, the inventor of Tommy John surgery. Jobe basically revolutionized the ability for pitchers to come back from elbow injuries. Joe Nathan owes him a beer.
- Aaron Torres Sports looks at the 10 questions that will determine the 2010 BCS champion. Ok, well he’s only looking at 10-6 right now, with the top 5 questions to come later.
- Last Friday marked the 3-year anniversary of the shooting on the campus of Virginia Tech. At Thunder Treats, DiLo reflected back on that day and how it could have been much different (and much more tragic on a personal level) for him.
- Rock the Red is pretty giddy about the Washington Capitals being the Eastern conference’s #1 seed this year, and is inviting anyone and everyone to grow a playoff beard. In fact, they have reasons why not growing one is unacceptable. Pretty sound reasoning if you ask me (though everything sounds pretty good at 3 am, especially sleep).
- A Stern Warning reported some of the greatest news ever last week: Larry Bird and Magic Johnson will be in the upcoming NBA Jam game for the Wii. Together. I cannot wait.
