- Before I even get started with anything else, go read this gem from Maize ‘n’ Brew on conference expansion in college football. Now. My coworkers probably think I’m insane because I’m laughing uncontrollably.
- Big time coaching news in the NBA: the Cleveland Cavaliers reportedly have made an offer to MSU head coach Tom Izzo. The Chicago Bulls hired Celtics assistant Tom Thibodeau this weekend. We’ll dish out more on Izzo as everything develops.
- Ray Allen went off last night in Boston’s 103-94 win over the L.A. Lakers, setting an NBA Finals record with 8 3-pointers. The series heads back to the East coast tied at 1.
- Defense be damned: the Chicago Blackhawks took a 3-2 series lead with a 7-4 win in Game 5 of the Stanley Cup Finals yesterday. I don’t care about this series too much. Instead, I’m still trying to figure out why this guy in the black shirt is so popular. [pic via Puck Daddy]
- If this is your first stop on your daily interweb excursion (and it should be), you may have missed that SB Nation launched several regional sites yesterday, including one for Detroit. Have no fear though, D4L will continue to provide the same quality reporting you’re used to.
- Good news for MSU students: if you’re lucky enough to pull lower bowl seats as part of the Izzone, you might get some face time on TV. MSU has decided to flip the seating at the Breslin Center to better showcase one of the best student sections in the country. [via SBN Detroit]
- Not that I expected any, but the Lions got no love from the developers of Madden 2011. Detroit sits at 30th in the league, inexplicably lower than the Raiders, Browns, and Buccaneers.
