Monday, October 6, was Day 14 of the FIVB Women’s World Volleyball Championship. The pools for Round 3 were finalized, as was the match schedule. As the pools were being determined, maybe the six remaining coaches were thinking about the song “Rainy Days and Mondays” by the Carpenters. As the song says, “Talkin’ to myself and feelin’ old, sometimes I’d like to quit, nothing ever seems to fit, Hangin’ around, nothing to do but frown, Rainy Days and Mondays always get me down.”
Well, anyway, let’s not get too melancholy ‘cause here’s the pools and the match schedule when play resumes on Wednesday, October 8. More great Volleyball!!

Actually, I think the song “Monday Monday” by The Mamas and The Papas (and from the soundtrack of the movie The Big Chill) is better suited to the situation today. “Monday Monday, so good to me, Monday Monday, it was all I hoped it would be. Oh Monday morning, Monday morning couldn’t guarantee, That Monday evening you would still be here with me.”
