Wednesday, the city of Chicago came out in droves to welcome home the United States Little League Champion Jackie Robinson West team, but, it’s still pretty obvious who the biggest star of the tournament still is.
Mo’Ne Davis.
760 miles across the country, the 13-year-old star pitcher and her Taney Dragon teammates hit Citizens Bank Park in their hometown of Philadelphia and were given a hero’s welcome by the Phillies and more than 33,000 fans.
The team was led into the stadium by the Philly Phantic and the University of Pennsylvania marching band. Once in Citizens Bank Park, they hit the field, took in a video tribute and was introduced to the crowd alongside many current members of the Phillies.
Ultimately, the celebration culminated with the team throwing out first pitches and then, well…dancing to The Sugarhill Gang’s hit “Apache”.
And if that dance looks familiar…it’s because 24 hours earlier, Davis was a guest on Steve Harvey’s talk show doing the exact same thing.
Pretty cool.
