Forbes Magazine released its annual list of highest-grossing celebrities. Jennifer Lawrence was No.1 What is surprising is who came in second, Chris Pratt.
Before this year Chris Pratt was only known for a few select roles. He was a mainstay on the under-appreciated NBC series Parks and Recreation, and played Scott Hatterberg in the baseball drama Moneyball.
However, when it comes to 2014, Pratt had his share of success.
He starred in two of the year’s biggest hits. It started with the animated feature Lego Movie, where Pratt voiced the film’s lead role, Elliot. The film went on to gross $468 million at the box-office, and work on the sequel has already started.
Of course, the biggest reason for Pratt’s inclusion on this list was due to the overwhelming response from Guardians Of The Galaxy. The film proved to be Pratt’s breakout role, as it grossed $772 million.
Pratt took in an impressive $1.2 billion at the box office this year, narrowly finishing behind Lawrence who earned $1.4 billion in 2014. Coming in third place was Scarlett Johannson, who raked in $1.18 billion thanks to her roles in Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Lucy.
Of the three the most likely to return to this list next year is Johannson, who will be featured in two tent-pole films in 2014. She will lend her talents to the live action version of The Jungle Book and Avengers: Age of Ultron.
However, this year truly belonged to Pratt, as he proved he is no longer an under-appreciated sitcom star, but can indeed be one of Hollywood’s biggest money makers.
