Academy Award-winning actor Philip Seymour Hoffman was found dead of an apparent drug overdose on Sunday.

According to the New York Post, the 46-year-old star was found in the bathroom his Greenwich Village home with a hypodermic needle still in his arm.  Law enforcement sources also told the Post that they found heroin on the scene.

Hoffman won an Oscar for the 2005 biopic "Capote" and collected a number of other nominations for his work, including "Charlie Wilson's War" (2007), "Doubt" (2008) and "The Master" (2012).

Of course, he'll also be remembered by baseball fans for his portrayal of feisty Oakland A's skipper Art Howe in the 2011 movie "Moneyball".

And as you can imagine, social media is being flooded with discussion of Hoffman and his movies.  Some of the many tweets coming from friend of The Hall, Hoffman's "Moneyball" co-star Stephen Bishop.
