New Oregon commit Deommodore Lenoir patterns his game after Jalen Ramsey, the Florida State star who became the first cornerback taken in this May’s NFL draft.
The 4-star prep told Robert Judin of Campus Insiders, “I model my game after him because he’s a physical guy. Not only can he cover but he will come up and hit you.”
“We are the same type of guy. We don’t trash talk. We just state facts by telling you what it is and what you’re not gonna do.”
He credits his high school coaches for instilling mental toughness, but says his grit and humility stem from growing up in Cental Los Angeles.
In an interview with Lorenzo Reyna of Pacific Takes he said, “You have to be physically tough because of the environment you’re in. Growing up in L.A. made me very physical which ties into football but you also had to be smart and succeed and get your family out the hood and take them to a better environment. So I grew up with the mentality of becoming a somebody or a nobody.”
At the high school level Lenoir is an impact player on offense and defense and returning kicks. Last season he carried the ball 7 times for 116 yards in a 48-27 win over Burbank, had 7 tackles and 2 passes deflected in a 27-0 shutout of La Canada.
Judin asked him what kind of role he wanted in college. “Whichever gets me to the league the quickest,” Lenore said.
