More Proof The Cardinals Have The Best Fans In Baseball

Griffin

The Cardinals might not be on a tear so far in 2014, but The Nation has been.

In what’s considered the more difficult part of the season to sell tickets (APR – MAY before schools let out and families start making longer road trips), the Cardinals are averaging 43,160/game at Busch Stadium. Or a 98.1% sellout rate.

They’ve already drawn 1.29 million fans total in 2014 to home games.

Road games in Chicago, New York, Atlanta and Milwaukee have been pretty solid. But last night in KC? That was Busch Stadium West. A raucous Cardinal crowd that really embarrassed the Royals.

Let’s get some quotes from Sean Keeler’s piece on the Kauffman Stadium experience last night…

Player Jason Vargas?

“Well,” Kansas City lefty Jason Vargas, Wednesday’s starter, said after the tilt, “when you’re playing, you don’t really notice the crowd.

Manager Ned Yost?

“I did see a lot of red shirts in the stands,” Royals manager Ned Yost observed Wednesday, “but I think it was a good atmosphere.”

Hopefully neither of these guys hurt themselves trying to twist their words so it didn’t piss of the few Royals fans that bothered to come out. But if you’d allow me to paraphrase?

Damn, best fans in baseball. Now I see why.
