On Friday the NFL released the list of players scheduled to attend the NFL Scouting Combine. That list included five players from Penn State. I already have a little Q&A in the works with Optimum Scouting to review some of the pro potential for Penn State players.

Penn State has two incoming players in the Class of 2015 up for this year’s Class AAA/AAAA Mr. Pennsylvania. Running backs Andre Robinson and Saquon Barkley are two of the five candidates for this year’s award. The award is still relatively new, first being awarded in 2010, but Penn State has yet to have one Mr. Pennsylvania to date. Perhaps that could change, although Pittsburgh also has two players up for the award, including wide receiver Jordan Whitehead.

Thinking back to National Signing Day, I had some thoughts about how Big Ten Network continues to cover the day. Simply put, I think they can do more. A bunch more. My expanded thoughts are also available via Awful Announcing.

Penn State Recruiting Updates

Not much to dig deep into yet with the Class of 2016, but I wanted to make sure you read this from Jeff Rice over at 247 Sports, in which Rice discusses how Penn State expects to be able to compete for big things through developing the talent that comes through recruiting. As I have always said, you can bring in all the talent you want, but if you cannot find ways to tap the potential or develop beyond the initial expectations, then what is the point?
