Lots of good stuff to get to today…

The NFL Combine is now wrapped up for Penn State players. Victory Bell Rings looks at the performance of Penn State players. Be sure to visit Optimum Scouting for a full rundown of NFL Combine coverage as well.

Black Shoe Diaries had an interesting question yesterday. Which former Penn State quarterback would fit James Franklin’s system the best? Personally, I would take Kerry Collins out of this discussion because it is not fair to any other Penn State quarterback. Collins is the all-time best quarterback at Penn State, and he would thrive in any system in State College. So, removing Collins from the conversation, I would go with Michael Robinson first, and Daryll Clark second. It seems most readers at BSD feel similarly.

Former Penn State assistant Tom Bradley could be formally introduced as UCLA’s new defensive coordinator as early as today. It’s a solid move for Bradley and he should have a positive impact on the Bruins. Now if we can just get a Penn State-UCLA bowl game this season…

Penn State Recruiting Updates

Penn State is getting ready for an upcoming junior day event this weekend. Greg Pickel has a list of players confirmed to be attended, including commits like defensive end Shane Simmons and running back Miles Sanders and others with Penn State offers like Maryland defensive tackle Ellison Jordan and McKeeseport linebacker Khaleke Hudson. It is possible we might see some recruiting news for the Class of 2016 out of this weekend, so stay tuned. Penn State’s junior day is scheduled for this Saturday.

Pickel also has some recruiting nuggets with Penn State extending some offers throughout the southeast, which shows James Franklin and the coaching staff are continuing to make their presence in the southeast known. How successful it is remains to be seen, but Penn State is not going to be shying away from the fertile recruiting grounds down south.
