Morning Cup of Joe: Penn State basketball has its day in the sun

32 days and counting…

I like to be honest with anyone who reads this site. If you are looking for thoughts on Penn State basketball, this is not the place to go. I’ll stick to Penn State football on this corner of the Internet. That said, I did find it rather interesting to see Penn State’s basketball program pick up a four-star recruit yesterday. I will just direct you over to Black Shoe Diaries for some commentary on that one.

Around the Big Ten

Who is the best wide receiver in the Big Ten? If you ask Rutgers receiver Leonte Carroo, he’ll tell you it is him.

Purdue’s Gelen Robinson will miss some game time this season due to an arrest.

Around the Nation

ESPN is taking College GameDay to two games on the opening weekend; Alabama vs. Wisconsin in Arlington and Ohio State vs. Virginia Tech in Blacksburg on Labor Day. GameDay is also coming to Philadelphia, but not for Penn State vs. Temple… UNC reinstated a player and attended a football practice while his name was called in court… Get ready for another year in the Bizarro Big 12… Meanwhile, it was time to make some ACC predictions and oh no that’s not good for Al Golden… Temple wide receiver Robby Anderson has been ruled eligible for the 2015 season. He missed the 2014 season due to academic concerns and led the Owls in receiving in 2013. Big addition for Owls offense and a nice challenge for Penn State secondary in season opener in the Linc.

Quick Thanks

I should have included this in yesterday’s edition of the Morning Cup of Joe, but I did not. I want to once again thank you guys for all of the support you have given the site this summer. A review of the site’s numbers the other day showed Nittany Lions Den saw readership growth for the third straight month, which I find to be awesome during the offseason. It tells me a few things. First, your interest in what I have to say about the program is either increasing or word about the site is spreading. Whatever the case, I appreciate you checking out the site and coming back for more, and maybe even sharing what you like with others. This past month was especially fun as I launched the new and improved Nittany Lions Den Podcast, and the feedback to that has been positive so far as well. Since launching this site on the Bloguin network, I have never been so enthusiastic about the site. I look forward to the upcoming season and hope we can continue to have fun discussing the Nittany Lions and more from around the college football world. But once again, thanks for your support.
