Most of the Money Has Already Been Spent

Comcast Sportsnet New England published this great breakdown of Red Sox salaries:

Earlier this month we talked about the financial problems that John Henry was facing. With big money already committed, do the Sox have the money to sign big names this year?  It will cost them appox. $18 million to get Bay or Holliday making their payroll increase over last season’s number.  They still need a shortstop and a few pitchers.
What is really telling about the list is that even though the Red Sox have limited financial resources this offseason, next year they will have money to spend with Ortiz, Lowell, Lugo, and Tek off of the books.  Buster Olney may have been right when he said the Red Sox may be looking ahead to 2011 and will be quiet this offseason.
