Mother Nature attempts to save the Pirates from themselves

The Pirates have been above .500 since June 3rd. That streak will be put to a serious test whenever they play next, but the weather is giving some doubt as to whether that will be tonight or not as it's apparently pouring in Chicago and the tarp is on the field past the 8:05 start time. Since the Pirates are still nominal contenders, they will probably have to play this game, which means a late night for the Pirates, which means a late arrival into Pittsburgh for their homestand that starts tomorrow, which probably means even more sloppy and uninspired baseball. Hooray!

First pitch tonight is whenever. Travis Wood and Kevin Correia are scheduled to start.
