Mouphtaou Yarou Begins Portsmouth Invitational Tournament With Solid Peformance

Today was the beginning of the Portsmouth Invitational Tournament in which seniors strut their stuff for NBA and International scouts. In the first game of the tournament, Villanova big man Mouphtaou Yarou took the stage as his team K&D Round’s Landscaping defeated Norfolk Sports Club 91-67.

Yarou had a very solid game building off his performance from the Reese’s College All-Star Game last Friday. In tonight’s game, he had 14 points and 10 rebounds. Out of those 10 rebounds he had tonight, seven of them were on the defensive glass. What was also key for him tonight is that he shot 6 of 8 from the field and 2 of 3 from the line. That is a great way to start the P.I.T and get scouts’ attention.

As I continue to say, there is no reason why Yarou cannot be a second round pick. He has good size, can rebound, and score the basketball. Preferably, I would like to see him go to a team with an established big man so he can hone his skills. The next time Yarou will be playing is on Friday at 7:00 pm as his team has advanced to the semifinals. Their opponent as of now is to be determined.

For tomorrow, La Salle’s Ramon Galloway and Temple’s Khalif Wyatt will both be playing as they get their P.I.T debuts underway. Galloway’s team, Roger Brown’s Restaurant will take on the Portsmouth Sports Club at 7:00 pm and Wyatt’s team, Sales Systems, Ltd. will take on Cherry Bekaert at 9:00 pm.
