Yes, the Boston the Celtics has beat the Atlanta Hawks in a 6 game quarterfinal series! Thursday’s night game was held in the TD Garden, where the Celtics look forward to knocking off the Atlanta Hawks. The Celtics top scorers from the game were Kevin Garnett, who had the hot hand with 28 points and 14 rebounds. ‘The Truth’ Paul Pierce added 18 points and 7 assists. Also, Rajon Rondo, who had 14 points and 8 assists. The Hawks were trying hard that four different players ended up in double figures. Marvin Williams had 18 points and 8 rebounds, Josh Smith had 16 points and 9 rebounds, Al Horford had 15 points and 9 rebounds , and Joe Johnson had 17 points. With everyone on the edge of their seats, this was a highly anticipated game. However, this one was a sea-saw battle from start to finish no matter which team went on a run, the defender came back and narrowed the gap. With less than five secs to go in the 4th, Al Horford tried to go for a lay up, but Paul Pierce made a defensive stop and blocked his shot, which sent him to the line for two free throw shots. However, Atlanta was forced to foul a player, which sent Paul Pierce to the line for two sealing the deal winning 83-80.
As I previously wrote in the playoff preview my prediction was correct for Boston to take it in 6 games. However, as we can see that this was not an easy one for the 17 NBA championship team! This series came down to the wire in almost every game except for when the Celtics went on a run in Game 4. The experience that Boston has playing as a team and Doc Rivers coaching it has led them to higher heights. Nonetheless, the Boston Celtics will face the Philadelphia 76ers in the Eastern Semifinals!
