With Michigan State’s convincing 30-6 win over the Northwestern Wildcats , the Spartans clinched a spot in the Big Ten Championship Game on December 7th in Indianapolis.
They’re opponent will be the third best team in the nation, the Ohio State Buckeyes. Ohio State who has not lost a game since January 2nd,2012 against Florida is coming off a one-year bowl ban and is looking to get their shot at the National Championship Game which right now looks to be featuring Alabama and Florida State respectively.
Ohio State’s toughest victory this year came against Wisconsin in which the Buckeyes battled throughout the game and pulled out victorious 31-24. Since then, OSU has flat out dominated their competition outscoring opponents 295-117. In those last six games, the Buckeyes have put up 30+ points every game, 40 or more points in five games, 50 or more points in three games and 60 or more points in two games.
Michigan State however has one of the best defenses in college football only surrendering an average of 12.5 points a game. Michigan State’s offense has been consistent all season for the most part but has also looked shaky against some rather weak opponents such as Purdue in which the Spartans only put up 14-0 on 110th ranked defense in the country.
Braxton Miller and Carlos Hyde have been one of the most dangerous offensive combinations in college football this season and they do not look to be slowing down. Michigan State’s defense has yet to go up against such a team with their toughest opponent probably being Nebraska.
OSU (11-0) and MSU (10-1) will be fighting most likely for a spot in the Rose Bowl where they will take on the victor of the Pac-12 Championship Game. Ohio State however if victorious in the Big 10 Championship game may be able to jump the undefeated Seminoles of Florida State to take most likely take on Alabama.
