MVN Mock Draft: Brewers will go with a pitcher

I recently played Brewers’ GM in the MVN 2009 Mock Draft for the upcoming MLB June Amateur Draft which takes place on Tuesday, June 9.

With the 26th overall pick, the Brewers (read: I) selected prep standout Matt Hobgood of Norco HS in California.  My write-up of why I think the Crew will take Hobgood, as well as the complete draft results, indicates that the Brewers, like many other teams, are looking for starting pitchers to fill their farm system, and Hobgood has put up impressive numbers this year as a prep hurler and merits strong consideration by the Brewers if not already taken by another team.

Look for my next pick for the Brewers–their supplemental first-round pick for losing CC Sabathia–in a few days.
