My Two Cents: I’m back blogging with FW and I missed it: so I’m going to add my 2 cents… Here goes; regarding Ellsbury not in dugout as Pedroia / Varitek and etc are. Yes, I think it’s Boras-ian behind the scenes voodoo, partially and I think there was some legitimate mistrust of the Team Doc when it came to the original diagnosis of his ribs. . . My thoughts are if he wants to rehab in the same place where a LOT of names do their rehab off season, that’s fine: I do wish he was with the team.
We shouldn’t put a kid through the public court of opinions however, we should, hope that he rises up and starts kicking butt speedily on the base paths as we know he can. I just do not want this to turn into a hating / bashing session about he isn’t with the team right now.
I have the faith, and I guess it’s not my business to dictate where the players do their rehab. My question to you guys: where was Beckett when he was out? That in no way should reflect on the standing of a player int he RS organization. Do I want him traded? NO, do I want him starting CF for the Sox, YES, do I want above and beyond what’s best for the team. . abso-freakin’-lutely! But, as I am a hometown fan of Ellsbury as well, I hope he continues his career with the Sox and only gets better.
My hopes for the 2010 sox? Forget the catcher issue, I think V-Mart could get us through the season: next season I’d hope to get a young catcher that could be a franchise mainstay behind the bag. Outfield? It’d be nice to upgrade LF position and get a big bat: and to move Jacoby to CF. Pitching. . man it’d be nice to get an Ace for a starter, and some relief but that’s obvious…
I dont’ want to act as if this season is over, we still have 60ish games left. I have faith, and will always have fail until the last out of the last game. I think the heart and character of the team has been stellar this season through all the injuries and hardships, I just think we need to leave the injured alone, don’t accuse anyone of not coming back soon enough, why they’re not playing any of those things, not our place. There is management, docs and the like to make those calls.
GO RED SOX, and thanks for having me back!
