Im tired of this bullshit.
I’m tired of rationalizing why the Bills are about to go on year 16 of zero playoffs. Think about that…16 years!!! Some will be getting their driver’s licences before they ever see a playoff game. Next year will also be the 20th anniversary since the Bills won their last playoff game which means you can smoke, vote, enlist in the army, have sex legally while never seeing a Bills playoff win in your life.. And then a year later, you’ll be able to drink legally which will make you hopefully forget about the past by getting blackout drunk. UGH. We don’t deserve this.
We all watched the 30 for 30 on the Bills Super Bowl Years this weekend and what we saw was greatness. Sure, they lost and it was bittersweet, but I feel bad for the kids nowadays who could never live through that. Instead, they get trashed at Bills games by putting themselves through tables as the only way they can find any sort of excitement. Every year it feels the same. I’ve run out of things to say about being frustrated. Its the same cyclical POVs. “Hey, if the Bills didnt get hurt here or there…we’d be better. Hey, its a new era..give them some time…”
All of that makes sense, but I’ve seen this movie before and I’m numb to it. Its the same tired excuses that I’m sick of talking about. In other words, I’m sick and tired of being sick and tired about the Bills. Maybe the future is bright cause we have an owner who won’t fire a HOF GM like Ralph Wilson did or go cheap, but the amount of time I’ve wasted cheering for this team and writing about them over the last 16 years makes me think I can be a spiteful person.
Its like being in a marriage and your spouse has cheated on you 10 times. No offense, but you are going to hold some resentment towards them even if they swear up and down they are a changed person. Anyways, the Bills played a game yesterday and made a ton of mistakes. Again…Groundhog day. Seriously, we need to just stop watching and have them call us when they actually meet preseason expectations.
—I’ve given Rex some passes this year about the penalty situation. It mostly had to do with how the Bills were ranked in the top 5 last year while The Jets were in the bottom 3rd. Well, I am done with that. Too many times this year we’ve seen the Bills fuck up on the penalty front. 15 penalties for 101 yards is a fricken joke. 8 of them happened to the OL that got their asses handed to them. When you lose by only 3 points, its usually the small things that cost you the win. You can put penalties up there as a major reason since they negated a few positive plays for the Bills.
—What a difference a week makes for the OL. Last week we were singing their praises because they had the perfect game plan to stop JJ Watt and yesterday they were an absolute tire fire. Richie Incognito had his worst day as a Bill as Fletcher Cox dominated his ass. Incognito gave up 4 QB hurries and 1 sack. The right side of the line (Miller/Mills) were just as pitfall as PFF actually gave both Miller/Mills a -9.0 and -6.3 rating. The Bills better re-sign Cordy Glenn and make some changes to the right side.
—Tyrod Taylor was just too inconsistent yesterday. He actually did pretty well on his underneath throws as he was 20 of 25 for 189 yards on throws that traveled between 0-19 yards through the air. However, on his deep throws (20+ yards), Tyrod was very inaccurate as he was 2 of 9 for 1 TD and 1INT. Tyrod came into this game being a decent QB when it comes to throwing deep, but he just didn’t have it yesterday. His completion percentage which was around 70% for the first half of the year is at 58% since week 9. Tyrod needs to work on his progressions more and he also needs to not take as many chances as he had a few opportunities to get the 1st down yesterday with either his feet or a short pass, but choose to go deep.
I still think he deserves a little more time to gel and deserves to start next year. However, if I’m the Bills…at this point..I’d take a QB within the first 3 rounds. Just keep picking guys until you get it right. Hell, if you get it right, you can trade the other one.
—Fuck this defense. I’m sorry. Maybe you can rationalize that they only gave up X amount of yards or that this is the norm for the NFL, but I refuse to lower my expectations from this offseason. When your head coach comes in and boasts about how his defense is like the Navy Seals team that killed Bin Laden and that the previous defense wasn’t in his class, you are damn right I’m gonna want to see a better defense or at least the same type of defense. The Eagles scored 20 points or fewer in 6 of their games this year. They are not an offensive juggernaut. I can take Tom Brady killing the Bills. I will not take a offense lead by Sam Bradford to give up a TD on a 2nd and 26. The Bills defense has 19 sacks on the year and are currently ranked 30th in that regard and the 3rd fewest in team history!!! They gave up only 26TDs last year while giving up 33 this year. I don’t care what Jeremy White says, but I can complain about the defense when their numbers are down across the board.
Rex continues to implement that stupid 3-man front while dropping everyone into coverage on certain plays which isn’t fooling anyone. I can’t tell you how much I hate that type of defense. Anyways, Rex is going to destroy the front 7 this offseason and he’ll implement his own guys or retread Jets players. Maybe they should have done it before the season started or maybe don’t hire a coach who only knows how to coach a 3-4 defense.
The Bills should make McCoy watch “Four Falls of Buffalo,” to see how Buffalo players handled much more crushing defeats with class.

Oh, fuck you. Let me give you kids a little history lesson on the relationship between the 90s Bills and the local media. They didn’t lose gracefully at all. They started losing gracefully when they started to retell their story from 20 years ago and the media now acts like it was the golden age of quotes and cordial relationships. Will let me shit on their revisionist history and say that the local media hated the Bills core of Thurman/Kelly/Bruce/Bennett/Reed. It was so bad that in 1990 Marv Levy wouldn’t allow the press to come into the locker room during the week because he thought they were stirring up the Bickering Bills controversy. Thurman Thomas used to throw fits after or before games when he’d refuse to talk to the press. Jim Kelly to this day doesn’t even talk to Sully (Note: See how he wasn’t quoted in TBN retrospect piece on the SB XXV). And you know who complained the most about this?? Jerry “Bouffant smalltimer” Sullivan.
He hated Bruce Smith because Smith would rather talk to the national people than the local paper. I mean, NBC Sports over TBN? HOW DARE HE WANT TO TALK TO BOB COSTAS INSTEAD OF STU BOYAR!!! I remember Bouffant wrote a scathing piece about Thurman not talking to the press during training camp of 1994 because Thurman was pissed off about the Super Bowl. When Bruce Smith left the Bills, Bouffant’s going away piece was all bitter because he felt Bruce didn’t respect him. Nothing about Bruce’s greatness, but all about Bouffant being pissed off.
Bottom line: Bouffant will always make it about him when a player decides to not talk to him. And guess what…fans don’t give a shit. They aren’t dying to hear what McCoy has to say because there are so many other narratives to read up on about a specific game. We shrug our shoulders and just go onto the next angle. I don’t care that McCoy decided to not talk to the press afterwards. I’m sick and tired of the press complaining about player access and trying to act like they are the voice for us. The only time they are in touch with us is when they are stepping on us for disagreeing with them.
–As for the good from yesterday: Ronald Darby and Robert Woods. Woods finally showed up to be a compliment to Sammy Watkins. Woods had his 2nd career 100-yard game with 106 yards on 7 catches. The previous five games, Woods had just 107 yards combined. I know Woods does a lot in blocking downfield, but I think he needs to have better receiving numbers to justify him being a #2 WR. With Sammy getting a majority of the focus, other WRs need to make defenses pay. I thought Darby had a nice rebound game after a few rough outings recently. He was targeted 7 times and gave up just 3 catches for 28 yards.
–LeSean McCoy now has 7 straight games where he’s had at least 100+ yards in total offense. Last time a running back did that was Thurman Thomas in 1992 (Final 8 games).
–Corbin Bryant lead the team with 4 QB hurries yesterday. Yeah…I wouldn’t have predicted that at the start of the year for any game.
—The Bills are 3-3 against the AFC South and NFC East. Two divisions that have 6-7 teams at the top of their divisions. That’s how shitty they are. Oh, and next year…We get the NFC West and AFC North. Something tells me the division leaders in that division won’t finish 8-8 next year.
–Since week 8, Sammy Watkins has 5TDs (Tied for 6th most) and is averaging 20.3 yards per reception (2nd most) for 569 yards (7th most). Amazingly on the season, the Bills have targeted Robert Woods (73) more times than Sammy (61). I know he missed a few games, but that should be a hell of a lot better you’d think.
Final words: 16 falls of Buffalo < 4 falls of Buffalo
