My boy was the number one star!!!!!!!!!

Last night the Coyotes defeated the Wild 6-4. It was, overall, a great game. It was also Shane Doan bobblehead/we win, you win night and let me tell you, that was weird in and of itself. The lady handing out the bobbleheads was like seriously checking out our tickets. Like we were trying to sneak in with last weeks tickets or something. And then the dude handing out the we win/you win tickets didn’t want to give me one. He was like I already gave you one. And I said, no you didn’t. He points at my ticket to the game and goes it’s right there. I responded as nicely as I could with, No that’s my ticket. He looks at it and goes, oh yah… they look alike. Ugh. Booster Club members thinking they have power. Annoying! You have no power, you are no one. I could just as easily volunteer to hand out crap at the doors. Sorry, I like to actually see the first period of the game.

Warmups: I couldn’t really get into the warmups. I watched Pru and Sami and Taylor of course. They were wearing their thirds but I didn’t take any pictures which, if you know me, I always take pics of the thirds and whites. Sami did his fall to the ice and slide into his stretch move, always cracks me up. There was a little bit of catching Taylor’s eye, not much. I just couldn’t handle that intensity last night!

Scratches: Vandy and Bizz. It’s so sad that Bizz was scratched for the two games his friends were in town for. 🙁

Intro: They changed the intro. Not so sure that I like it. The song reminds me of the Linkin Park song they used last season, but not as good. Like a poor man’s Linkin Park. Plus it only showed like three players, Doan, Jovo and Marty. C’mon, we got a whole team full of great guys!

First: Who starts off the scoring? NONE OTHER THEN PRUUUU! Ahhhh, I love that man. Doan also got a goal in this period. Coyotes finish the period up 2-0. Awesome.

Second: Can I not think about this period? I am having visions of the Coyotes of the past. Great first period, horrible second, giving up in the third. Can we please not go down this road again boys? Luckily we hold them to just one goal. 2-1 end of second.

Third: This was a roller coaster of a period. There were points were I was like yes! we have this in the bag! And then others were it was like NO how can you let them score?? We get Adrian and Pruuuuu goals to get us up 4-2. Fiddy with the shorty? Holy crap! And it was amazing. Fiddy moves the puck down the ice beautifully. Then he passes to Jovo and Backstrom and the Wild players think Jovo will shoot (hey, I did too). Jovo passes the puck back to Fiddy and Fiddy puts it in the empty net! Is it possible for Fiddy to get an assist on his own goal? Can it be Fiddy from Jovo and Fiddy? Oh, but then the Wild come to life (or Bryz loses his shit) and score twice. 5-4. But wait! The Coyotes do not lie down and die. We came back and put up one more goal!!! Who was it this time?? Pru? Almost. It was credited to Vrby!!!! It was actual a redirect by a Minnesota player. Hilarious. A lot of people thought it was Pru and started throwing their hats. Had the Wild player not gotten in there, it would have been a Pru goal. It was adorable, they were showing Pru on the Vandy-tron and he’s all pointing at Vrby and shaking his head. He is so modest and adorable! How can you not love Pru?

Official Three Stars: 3) Latendresse (2 goals for Minnesota, he deserved it) 2) Jovo – he had 4 assits. This is classic Jovo… come back from injury/suspension and play awesome. Don’t worry, he will be back to his normal self in a few games. And the #1?? NONE OTHER THEN PETR FREAKING PRUCHA!!!!!! That’s my boy. I repeat…. how can you not love Pru?

With Adrian’s goal, we earned breadsticks and a burrito. We got an Oggi’s power play goal, so that means free breadsticks. With 3 or more goals, a burrito supreme from Taco Bell. That deal is only good from 4-6 the day after the game with the purchase of a beverage. I have yet to take advantage of either of these offers. One of these days…

Poor Uppy spent a lot of time in sin bin. The last penalty did not seem to be his fault. The Minnesota player really sold it though.

Some interesting notes after reading the recap on the Yotes site:
-Tippett needs just one more win to make it 300 career NHL wins. Let’s make that happen Monday against Buffalo!!! (I just hope Miller is in goal, I love watching him play but we can beat him!)
-Byrz got an assist on Radim’s goal. I love it when goalies get assits and goals are even better.
-It was Kurt Sauer’s birthday on Saturday. He turned 29. Happy Birthday Kurt! I hope you get better soon!
– We are leading the series 3-0 over Minnesota. Nice. That is a change of pace from seasons past.

Players that I didn’t notice much: Robert Lang (surprised he’s not injured yet?) and Peter Mueller (he’s been playing so well lately, one bad game is to be expected. Let’s hope that he snaps out of it though and is back to awesome on Monday).

Sami honey, I need you to score. You are crashing the net and shooting, let’s make some pucks go in, ok? ok. Also, we need you to put on a few pounds. But please… do it slowly. We don’t want a Mueller repeat.
