Name the Fail Contest Winner

David Ericson of Charlotte, NC came up with the winning entry: the acronym SOBS .It has a dual meaning; (1) stands for Season Of Bookend Slumps, referring to the 2-10 record at the beginning and the 7-20 ending. (2) the word sobs also tells what the diehard fans were doing about one minute after Pap gave up that hit that lost the game. As an afterthought,it could also give a name to those on the team who did not respond to Francona’s urging for suitable behavior in the clubhouse—-the sons-of-bitchin’-Sox.

David also submitted this info: he’s been a fan of Red Sox since 1948 and is paying the $196 for Directv’s Extra Inning package .
