Names to Watch on Day 3 of the Draft

orpikhit

The third day of the NFL draft is generally a crapshoot. With the top 100 players off the board, there is some late-round value to be found but there isn’t much elite talent left available (and if it is, there are some serious injuries or other question marks). The Steelers will have four picks today:

  • 4th Round: #123 Overall
  • 6th Round: #220 Overall (Compensatory Selection)
  • 7th Round: #229 Overall
  • 7th Round: #246 Overall

The Steelers do not have a 5th round pick after trading it to Philadelphia in exchange for Brandon Boykin. Their 6th round pick was traded to Jacksonville in exchange for Josh Scobee. Woops. The early 7th round pick was received from the Giants in a trade for Punter Brad Wing.

Since the Steelers have already addressed their 3 biggest needs (cornerback, safety and defensive line), they could take a player at any position today. Rather than trying to piece together a ranking of the players available, here’s a list of names to remember that have been tied to the Steelers at some point in the Draft process (players in bold came to Pittsburgh for a pre-draft visit).
