Nash to be GM of Team Canada

For Phoenix Suns point guard Steve Nash, this is going to be a busy summer. Nash might be moving SNteams as he’ll be a free agent this summer, and he has said he’d like to win an NBA championship before he retires, but Nash will also have the responsibility of his country in his hands from a basketball perspective.

According Bettor.com, Nash has accepted the General Manager position for the Canadian National Basketball team.

Steve Nash is one of the most successful point guard and renowned philanthropist, and now he will also be the general manager of the senior men Canadian Basketball team.

Nash taking over as the GM of team Canada is a great move for the country, because he’s got the resume (two-time MVP) and might have the ability to put together a competitive squad for the Canadians. Some Canadian players on the squad already are San Antonio Spurs’ Cory Joseph, (potentially) Matt Bonner, Miami’s Joel Anthony, and Cleveland’s Tristan Thompson to name a few.

For Joseph, this could possibly be a great learning experience if Nash works with the young Spurs rookie. Nash has been successful on the basketball floor, and also in the film industry, where he’s actively involved in the NBA offseason.

Canada has a bright future in their basketball program with Nash at the helm. His biggest challenge will be the same one Spurs general manager R.C. Buford has faced and accomplished several times, finding a hidden gem.
