Nate Ebner Is A Scholarship Buckeye!

Today it was announced that former walk-on DB Nate Ebner has been awarded an athletic scholarship by the football staff.

A stalwart member of the special teams, Nate is most famously known for his role both with the football AND the Rugby Buckeyes– his inspirational role following his father’s tragedy was something that helped the Buckeyes focus during the 2009 season, and was given extensive coverage during recent national “sevens” tournament- (Warning, Purdue content ahead)

Ohio State has a long tradition of taking available scholarships and giving them to players who have “earned” them by their dedication to the team’s efforts.  Contrast that with other schools who often “juggle” scholarship numbers in order to squeeze in one more recruit.  This policy is one reason many hope the forthcoming NCAA sanctions don’t include a scholarship ban, as it would impact these students most deeply.

Congrats, Nate- thank you for your dedication to two sports, to your teammates, and to The Ohio State University!!
