Well, it started out similar to Friday night’s game…but it sure didn’t end that way.
After Ryan Braun and Prince Fielder spotted Brewers’ starter Jeff Suppan with back-to-back homers in the first (both solo shots, and both with two outs), the Crew held the 2-0 lead until Suppan gave way to a 4-run fourth by the Nats…two more solo shots–another by Fielder, plus one by Estrada–weren’t enough, as Carlos Villanueva gave up the winning run in the 7th.
Suppan took the loss, bringing him to 8-8, 5.00. Soup had allowed only one hit through four, but then gave up five hits in the five run fifth…Soup also walked six on the day, as just 55 of his 102 pitches were for strikes.
Damian Miller caught the game, went 4-for-4, and raised his BA to .312. Fielder raised his HR total to 29.
Chris Capuano (5-5, 4.28) takes the mound Sunday versus Tim Redding (0-1, 5.40) in his second start of the year…Redding hasn’t had a win since ’04, so the Crew have a solid chance to end with a win heading into the break, provided they don’t look past him.
