Remember when the NBA was in lockout mode last year? Remember the concerns that the labour dispute would hurt the league and cause it to lose fans? As is most often the case when a sport goes on strike (or gets locked out), this is just an urban myth – the NBA didn’t lose fans or viewers, in fact the opposite is true. This season’s NBA telecasts on ABC were the most-viewed season ever.
ABC’s 15 telecasts of the NBA drew 5.4 million viewers on average, which is a 6% increase over last season. So apparently it is true what they say about absence making the heart stronger.
