The unpredictability of sports is one of the main reasons that they are so intriguing to fans.  So, in the vein, The Hoops Manifesto will be tracking the biggest surprise NBA player this season – the player who (positively) deviated most from his norm and had a crazy good season.  This is the NBA Eye Opener of the Year.

Larry Nance Jr. – Los Angeles Lakers

6.7 ppg, 5.1 rpg, 1.0 apg, 1.5 spg, 62.5% FG, 0.411 WP/48, 3.5 Steal % (9th in NBA)

Two weeks in a row as this season’s eye opener for the NBA dunk legend’s son.  Nance continues to greatly outperform what he did last year for the Lakers, doing the things that help teams win games – shooting for a very high percentage, while racking up plenty of rebounds and steals.  And win they have – six wins in their first 11 games is an eye opener in its own right.  Last season the team didn’t win their sixth game until their 33rd game of the season.
